Our History
Shree Bhanu Bhakta Secondary School was established in 2008 B.S. (1951 A.D.) in the beautiful town of Mangalbare, under Deumai Municipality, Ilam District, with a visionary aim to bring quality education to the children of this hilly and rural region. At a time when formal education was a privilege available to only a few in Nepal, local leaders, educationists, and social reformers came together with a shared dream — to light the lamp of learning in their own community.
Named after Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, Nepal’s first poet and a symbol of wisdom and nationalism, the school began as a primary school, operating with very limited resources, a few classrooms, and a handful of dedicated teachers. Yet, the commitment to teaching and community support laid a strong foundation for steady growth.

Timeline of Growth and Development:
- 2008 B.S. – School established as a primary-level institution.
- 2010 B.S. – School approved as a primary-level institution.
- 2015 B.S. – Upgraded to Middle school.
- 2023 B.S. – Permitted to Secondary Level (Grade 10).
- 2030 B.S. – Approved as Secondary Level (Grade 10).
- 2054 B.S. – Introduced +2 Level (Grades 11 and 12) in the Humanities, Management and Education streams under the higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB).
- 2074 B.S. – Introduced Secondary Level (Grades 9 and 12) Technical and vocational stream (Civil Engineering) under the National Examination Board (NEB).
Today, Shree Bhanu Bhakta Secondary School stands as a leading community school in eastern Nepal, known for its inclusive learning environment, qualified faculty, and its role in nurturing responsible citizens who contribute to the nation.

With a legacy of over seven decades, the school has produced thousands of graduates who are now serving the country and abroad as teachers, engineers, doctors, civil servants, social workers, and entrepreneurs. - 3 times Winners and 1 time runner up of Inter school Girls tournament in football, held by Deumai Municipality.
- 2 times Champion of Inter school Girls tournament in volleyball, held by Deumai Municipality.
